We were honored to be selected for the prestigious Cedar Hall project at Wells Cathedral School, a renowned institution with a rich history of nurturing musical talent. This state-of-the-art music hall required both high-end acoustic solutions and a comprehensive commercial fit-out, making it a complex and exciting challenge for our team.
A Multi-Faceted Commercial Fit-Out
Our role in this project extended beyond the typical installation of acoustic treatments. We were approached to deliver a variety of commercial fit-out services, including drylining and other crucial interior structural elements, ensuring that the new facility met the highest standards for both aesthetics and functionality.
Collaboration with Acoustic GRG: Innovative Acoustic Solutions
A key component of the project was the installation of advanced acoustic panels, designed to provide flexibility in managing the unique sound requirements of Cedar Hall. Working in close partnership with Acoustic GRG, we implemented a Variable Acoustic Panel System that offers dynamic control over the hall's acoustic environment.
Timber Doors with Variable Acoustic Control: The system features robust timber doors that can be adjusted to control sound reflections. These doors can be opened to introduce additional sound absorption, making it possible to tailor the acoustic environment to the specific needs of a performance, rehearsal, or recording.
Seamless Motor Control Integration: The entire system is integrated with a fully operable motor control system, providing effortless control over the acoustic settings. This allows staff and musicians to adjust the sound environment with precision, ensuring optimal conditions for each unique use of the space.
Bespoke Acoustics for a Diverse Range of Uses
The acoustic solutions were meticulously designed to meet the needs of Wells Cathedral School's diverse musical activities. Whether the hall is being used for orchestral performances, chamber music, or solo recitals, the adjustable acoustic system ensures that every note resonates with clarity and precision.
Throughout the project, we worked closely with Acoustic GRG's team—notably their Contract Manager, Paul Bettles, and Managing Director, Matthew Moule—to ensure that every aspect of the acoustic system was perfectly integrated into the space. This collaboration allowed us to combine their industry-leading acoustic expertise with our installation experience, creating a world-class facility.
