Acoustic PET Panels

PET acoustic panels are a lightweight, sustainable way to control echo and noise. They’re made from polyester fibre, much of it recycled from plastic bottles, and pressed into a dense felt that absorbs sound without the need for fabric wrapping or mineral wool.

We cut, shape and install PET panels in our Somerset workshop for offices, schools, hospitality venues and homes. Options range from simple wall panels to shaped ceiling features, desk screens and printed artwork panels.

What Are PET Acoustic Panels?

PET stands for polyethylene terephthalate, the same material used in plastic drinks bottles. Recycled bottle flake is spun into polyester fibres, then heat-pressed into rigid acoustic boards.

The result is a panel that’s porous enough to absorb sound energy, yet stiff enough to cut, machine and fix without a frame. Because the colour runs all the way through, PET panels don’t need fabric covering. Edges can be left exposed, routed into patterns or shaped into almost any form.

PET is a popular alternative to traditional fabric-wrapped fibreglass or mineral wool panels. It’s clean to handle, doesn’t shed fibres, and is fully recyclable at the end of its life if uncontaminated.

PET Panel Options

  • Acoustic wall panels: flat or grooved panels to cut reverberation in classrooms, offices and halls

  • Ceiling rafts and baffles: suspended shapes for spaces with high ceilings or limited wall space

  • Decorative panels: routed patterns, shapes and colour combinations that double as a design feature

  • Printed panels: your artwork, branding or photography printed directly onto white PET

  • Room dividers and desk screens: freestanding or desk-mounted screens for open-plan workspaces

  • Other uses: pinboards, canopies and phone booth linings

Benefits of PET Panels

Strong sound absorption

PET panels can reach Class A sound absorption, depending on the panel’s density, its thickness, how much is cut away, and how it’s mounted. Fixing panels with an air gap behind them usually improves performance further.

Recycled and recyclable

Panels are made from 100% polyester fibre with a high recycled content from post-consumer PET bottles. Our standard boards are sourced from Europe, which keeps transport emissions lower than products shipped from further afield.

Fire rated

Our standard 15mm grey panels achieve Euroclass B-s1, d0. Other colours are rated BS 476 Part 7 Class 1Y and ASTM E84 Class A. We’ll confirm the rating for your chosen product during specification.

Printable

Using digital printing, we can apply crisp, full-colour images to white PET panels. That turns acoustic treatment into artwork, wayfinding or branding.

Lightweight and quick to install

PET is light and rigid, so panels go up quickly with minimal disruption. That makes them ideal for working schools, offices and venues.

Cost-effective

Standard sheets are simply cut or machined to size. There’s little labour involved before installation, which keeps costs down.

Where PET Panels Work Best

PET panels suit almost any space where echo and noise make speech hard to follow: classrooms, meeting rooms, open-plan offices, cafés and restaurants, community halls, studios and home offices. They’re especially popular where sustainability matters, or where the panels need to look as good as they perform.
