Educational refurbishment for SBL Academy, Bristol
Project Overview
ISS Acoustic & Interiors recently completed a refurbishment project at Sir Bernard Lovell (SBL) Academy in Bristol, working alongside main contractor Stringer Construct.
The project involved the renovation of three science laboratories, with ISS delivering a range of drylining and interior works, including external partitions, plastering and suspended grid ceiling installations.
The refurbishment was undertaken to modernise the academy's science facilities, creating refreshed, functional learning environments that better reflect the needs of modern science education and the students and staff who use them.
SCOPE OF WORKS
ISS Acoustic & Interiors delivered a package of ceiling and partitioning works across three science laboratories, including the supply and installation of:
Suspended Ceilings: Approximately 300m² of suspended ceiling systems, incorporating both flat and sloping ceiling installations.
Plasterboard Partitions: Approximately 100 linear metres of plasterboard partitioning, using a combination of standard plasterboard and soundboard.
Finishing: Tape and fill finishing to the installed plasterboard partitions, providing a smooth, finished surface ready for subsequent decoration.

Sir Bernard Lovell (SBL) Academy, a member of the Futura Learning Partnership, has been undergoing significant modernisations to its campus infrastructure.
The refurbishment forms part of a wider commitment to improving the facilities at Sir Bernard Lovell Academy. Futura Learning Partnership, which runs the academy, has outlined plans to reinvest funds into significant school upgrades, with the aim of enhancing the learning environment and bringing educational facilities in line with modern standards.
The renovation of three science laboratories contributes to this wider ambition, helping provide students and teaching staff with refreshed, functional spaces that support modern science education.
