Interior Fit Out for Armstrong Hall in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire
We’re pleased to announce the ongoing works at Armstrong Hall in Thornbury, Somerset, where we are delivering a full renovation through our interior fit-out services, including partitioning, plastering, taping and jointing, and a MF suspended ceiling system. The much loved community hall in Thornbury is undergoing a full transformation to bring it back to life as a vibrant hub for live entertainment, creativity, and community events.
Project Overview
The Armstrong Hall Trust has committed to revitalising Thornbury’s cherished Armstrong and Cossham Halls, which have been closed since the pandemic in 2020. Following a comprehensive year-long appraisal process, the Trust has opted for a phased refurbishment strategy. This approach aims to reopen Cossham Hall in the first year, with Armstrong Hall following in the second year, at an estimated initial cost of £350,000.
The total refurbishment could range between £795,000 and £3.5 million, depending on the extent of the work undertaken. A significant boost to the project comes from a generous £350,000 donation from Maggie Lansdown, whose family has strong ties to Thornbury. This funding will support the restoration of both halls, ensuring they meet modern accessibility standards and continue to serve as vibrant community spaces for arts, entertainment, and local events.
Collaboration & Delivery
ISS will be working closely with the main contractor, Steele Davis, to ensure that every stage of the fit-out aligns seamlessly with the overall construction programme. Close coordination and meticulous planning were essential, from scheduling deliveries and workforce allocation to sequencing installations such as partitioning, plastering, taping and jointing, and the suspended ceiling system. By integrating our works with the contractor’s timeline, ISS ensured minimal disruption, maintained project efficiency, and supported the smooth progression of the Armstrong Hall renovation.
Results & Impact
